Yesterday evening around 22 o’clock I sat onto the windowsill and listened to some music. I began to realize, that in the distance a sheet lightning was approaching. It’s been quite distant but a slight breeze stroked my hair – blabla 😀 . Within a few minutes it was gaining strength and the interval of lightnings were getting shorter.

Spontaneously I’ve decided to go out the village and take some photos. Actually it’s the first time I’ve been using my new camera on hard weather condition. Wind gust and some rain were on the list (and that’s all, don’t think it’s lightning protected).
And there it started, a light show over the fields, coming closer and closer.

Till now there has not been much action. A few bright clouds here, a few flashing up clouds there. So I turned my camera to long time exposure and “collected” a few seconds with hope to catch a lightning. Actually I had not much luck. Either there hasn’t been anything, or if, then my camera has been plotting the image it just have taken. As it was approaching and the rain became stronger, I’ve been on my way back home again. But I still had no nice thunderbolt.

In front of the house I took the chance once more and positioned my camera with the tripod.

There we go, the first nice flash. Unfortunately I have all the houses in the front 🙁 But better than nothing. Just after that shot, a series of lightning has been following. Another image I like pretty much ( and it’s nearly captured in full length) is that one

A took quite a few, some were just not interesting enough.The last one looks kinda strange. Don’t know if the settings of the camera have been incorrect or if the flash was too close. You hardly see the flash but a bright light spot.

All in all I’ve enjoyed that night. I really have been in need of some cooling after the long period of high temperatures outside. This morning as I went to work again, the next thunder-storm took spin through town. I’m glad I always carry my rain suit in my top case. I don’t like to ride my bike in rain but this time I’ve made an exception. It’s been like you would already have forgozten, what it feels like.
