Actually nothing bad happened but I could have gone mad again when I remember what happened today.
I use my bicycle every day to work. It’s just about 8km between the company and home. On the middle of the route I come close to a shopping center and a gym. I’m honest enough to tell you that I’m not a real slow cyclist. Sometimes you would think i’m a rowdy on the streets. But when there are plenty of people near the bikeway I always am little bit more carefull since you never know what stupid idea comes to someone’s mind.
In front of me were two boys, both riding very very slow, using the complete width of the way and as I’ve been approaching them, both “drifted” to the right side of the way. Nice, then i can pass by. Bike #1, passing by – ohoh. Cyclist #2 goes for a freehand ride and drifts back right away so fast that my handlebar touched his ones. In that moment I haven’t been able to swear, rather beeing thinking “oh my god, hopefully this goes well”. Fortunately due to his low speed he was on his feet before he fell down. I apologized, maybe I should have ringed. But then I also reminded him of his carelessnes aswell. He was accusing me for taking no care, not ringing, “do i look like i have eyes on my back?” he grumped. And as soon we had our small discussion, his pal came and accused me too, just way more exaggerated.
It ended up with, that it was only my fault. I thought, those guys are not worthy to start a discussion about the what and who. I just said “I’m sorry, thank god nothing happened but take care yourself too next time”.
Then i went back on my way back home – with the bitter aftertaste of defeat of course. Today you never know when they loose control. Is it really worth it?
