First i have to tell you some background story about all this.
Last year, the company Daimler and the city of Ulm have introduced a new way of transportation. Car2Go as it,s being called. To make it short, Car2Go’s are about 200 rentable Smarts you can get in city everywhere and every time. Just hold a special chip at it’s front window and enter. You just pay a 0,19€ per minute.

Okay, and that’s what happened two weeks ago.

A small public concert has been held on Friday 16th. My parents were already on the way there and i decided later to get there as well. But I knew, maybe I will have drink and so i didn’t take the car. Neither I took the bus since I don’t really like them. They take long and are expensive in my eyes. On the homepage of Car2Go I found two available cars nearby. I walked to the first and nearest one. It was raining and as i reached the car, it had chosen by someone else just the moment I’ve arrived. Bad luck. I should made a reservation but hey, how high are the chances, that someones picks your car just the same moment as you like to do, when it’s just one street ahead?
So i went to the 2nd one which was located at the other end of town. A walk of 8minutes maybe and strong rain. Finally I found it and drove into city. I could not find any parking lot there and so I had to use the basement garage went to the concert and had a nice evening. Back home I took the bus with my parents.

Sunday afternoon – ring ring : “This is Daimler service team for Car2go. you have been using a Smart yesterday evening and parked it in XYZ-street at 123o’clock. ” oh no, what happened now? Have I forgotten to end the lease? No worse, i have parked it on a place where it was not supposed to be parked. Panic.
He also reminded me of the fees of the garage i would have to pay. Pretty pissed off, i went into city with my dad.
Now here begins the chain reaction.

I went down to the car, unlocked it and took the chip card from the garage, went to the parking meter. Insufficient amount of cash. I locked the car, went to the next bank for money. When I returned, I’ve payed the ticket and went to the car. For my luck it got reserved by someone else. I could not enter the car. And later as it could not get any worse, my ticket slipped away beneath the front window’s grill, unable to reach it. Now what the hell should I do now? The person, who rent the car, arrived and gave the car to me again. My father arrived too later and thanks to a sticker, we were able to drag out the ticket again. Now this has been solved. But according to the regulations, I should not have parked there – meaning the rent goes on. unfortunately the car stood there for over 20 hours :S

Actually i got never charged because my rent has been finished after all. All i had to come up with were the 9€ fees for the garage itself.

My fault but the service team has been very unfriendly and unpatient.
