My Elder Scrolls Tamriel Map

January 29th, 2012

I’m into the game series since The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind, released in 2002. After TESIII, Oblivion pleased the RPG gamer community with a new vast open world and fantastic graphics. Then on 11th November 2011, the fifth game of the series called Skyrim took it up to the next level.

Each game so far took place in one province of the continent Tamriel.  Hammerfell and High Rock have been the first ones in TESI Arena and TESII Daggerfall. Morrowind, Cyrodiil and Skyrim are the most recent provinces. Since Arena, there has been a official map of that particular continent.

The official map of Tamriel

There have been very beautiful illustrated maps within the game’s case wich differ each time in style.  One day I came up with the mind, to recreate a map like this including all provinces at once and not just a single one. As well I should put it down with ink on paper.  But on a size of 100x70cm I need an detailed template of the locations and the shape. My biggest problem is the lore of the Elder Scrolls World. Discover new things when looking closer

September 11th, 2011

Just right when I recveive new equipment, of course I jump out the house and test the new stuff. While one part of the equipment goes into macro – magnifying small objects like insects or flowers, the other goes into very strong tele-zoom.

If you move to that extreme, you’ll discover new opportunities

I like to share with you a few images that I’ve taken

Halogen bulb- macro

Obviously this image doesn’t look very interesting as I just made it from the floor in deactivated state.

But as soon I turn on the lights, mount my macro and play with the camera settings, I’ll reveal the mechanism of the bulb. While everything around the wire is covered by a slight dark grey-blue color, the wire lights up as the electrical current flow developes hight temperatures.

Spider dew – macro

Just yesterday morning we had dew on the plants and this looks very great, when they are covered with spider nets. In our area we have them alot and you will realize them from far distance already.

When taking an image of the whole net, it doesn’t really look so special at all – it even looks like a chaos. But guess what happens if I use my macro again.

Suddenly the the net and the water drops get more attention and release their full beauty. This is the reason why we see the spider nets when having dew.

Upcomming Sunset -telezoom

In the late evening, the sun hides beyond the trees and sometimes we get a lovely sunset to see.

This time I used my tele-zoom lens and attached a converter to magnify the image once more. This time I changed the settings again. Otherwise the bright light would have caused just a white image.  And that’s what I got again.

This stuff has been a big investment, that I never regret

Gallery comming up next

Usually when I’m somewhere for a while like beeing on vacation, I return home with dozens of images and the worst thing about all them is to make a small selection for this site. Actually I could upload more images than I do right now but space is limited and I don’t want to waste it. For those who think I only upload the best of the best photos, is wrong. Actually I sort them out by using my own taste or when this image has some special meaning for me.

After I haven’t been much working on this site, work has gathered and it looks like there will be a lot of new images soon.

My first trip to Germany’s capital city. Images from the city center.

On the way from Lake Constance to Hamburg, a short stop in Cologne.

My fourth stay in China, this time for business. But some spare time gave me opportunity to have a look around. Wuxi, Suzhou, Mashan and Shanghai are on the list.

Yet I never released any images of my hometown, Ulm and Neu-Ulm, like one single city.

And already announced since very long time, finally the images from Cologne 2009
